When Friends Come Back Wrong

Blue Flames and Flying Ships
Mariza sat cross-legged on the wooden deck of Captain Hook's ship, watching blue flames dance around her fingers. The magical fire felt warm and friendly, like a pet that only she could see.
"Show me again!" Wendy clapped her hands together, her nightgown fluttering in the ocean breeze.
The ship floated high above the sparkling waters of Neverland. Peter Pan stood at the wheel, his green hat crooked on his messy hair. Tinker Bell buzzed around his shoulder, her tiny face scrunched in anger.
"I don't like her," Tinker Bell whispered to Peter, pointing at Wendy.
Mariza made the blue flames bigger, forming the shape of a butterfly. Wendy laughed with delight, but Tinker Bell's glow turned an ugly red color.
The Broken Sail
The ship lurched suddenly. Mariza's blue flames flickered and went out as she grabbed the railing.
"What's happening?" Wendy called out, her blonde hair whipping in the wind.
Peter Pan yanked at the wheel, but nothing happened. The ship tilted sideways, sending everyone sliding across the deck.
"We're falling!" Peter shouted.
Tinker Bell flew in frantic circles, her glow shifting from red to yellow. She pointed her tiny finger at the ship's sail, which had torn completely in half.
Captain Hook's old vessel spun through the air like a broken toy. Mariza watched the ocean rushing up toward them, getting bigger and bigger.
"Hold on tight!" she yelled to Wendy, reaching out her hand.
